Costa Rican Craft Beer

Last week I headed to El Socorro for one last time to give the women their video. It was really cool because none of them had ever seen themselves in that light. They spend their days tending to others and never really take a step back and look at themselves. They really enjoyed the video and were so grateful. This experience has been so cool for me, and I am so happy with how everything turned out.

Earlier this week a couple of us headed to Costa Rica's only craft brewery. After two buses and cab rides, we made it to this small little building outside of the town of Cartago. Basically, this company is three years old, consists of nine people, and was started by an American. They are already looking to expand! We got a small tour and tasting, and everyone was so nice. I wore my Sierra Nevada shirt, and when the brewmaster came out we started talking about Chico and the brewery. He ended up giving us two special unmarked bottles of beer that are not normally bottled. One was an imperial stout and the other a passion fruit beer. We liked their beer so much that we got a 24 pack. Definitely the most expensive I have gone in on, but well worth it. I miss beer. Real beer.

He could tell we liked beer :)

We then walked around Cartago and visited the church. I carried that 24 pack over a mile but it was worth it!
